I've been trying to go to the gym a lot during the week, if not everyday. I know that might sound a little extreme, trying to go everyday, but they say you are supposed to have at least 30 minutes of physical activity everyday. So I choose to use those 30 minutes, sometimes only 20, at the gym. The most important thing you can bring to the gym, in my opinion, is MUSIC. I never ever forget my iPod and headphones. Music can be a really good workout motivator. On my iPod, I have a workout play list of very upbeat, fun songs. One of my favorite songs on my workout play list right now is Work Bitch by the one and only Britney Spears. Despite the name, I think this song actually has a very good message. "You want a Lamborghini? Sip martinis? Look hot in a bikini? You better work bitch." Throughout the whole song, she is basically saying that if you want something, you need to work for it. Here are some other good workout songs that are on my play list:
- Applause- Lady Gaga
- Do My Thang- Miley Cyrus
- Neon Lights- Demi Lovato
- Feel So Close- Calvin Harris
- Headband- B.o.B
- Don't Stop Believing- Journey
- Alive- Krewella
Another must-have at the gym is water. I mean, obviously. We can't live without it. I don't know if you've ever had to workout without water, but I can't do it. A lot of gyms (depending on the size) will have water fountains or water jugs with those cute little cone cups. The gym I go to is very small and it has a water jug with cups. But recently, thanks to my friend Andrea, I've discovered that I like taking a water bottle with me even though they have a water station. I like having it right there by me so I can take a drink without having to stop and get off the machine to get water. And that is really all I bring to the gym, except the given, like car keys and wallet of course.
Now, let's talk about what to wear at the gym. I want you to understand, you do not have to wear the things I am telling you. I am just purely giving suggestions. The main point is that you need to wear what is comfortable for you. If you aren't comfortable wearing shorts, wear running pants or leggings. Heck, I even wear sweatpants if it's really cold outside. I normally wear either sweat pants or athletic "leggings" on bottom and an old t shirt or tank on the top.
I want to talk about what NOT to wear at the gym. Do not wear long sleeved shirts, unless you want to have a heat stroke. Gyms normally have fans, but when you are working out, those fans don't really help you. It gets hot. Do not wear leggings unless you have a shirt to cover your butt. Nobody wants to see your leggings sticking up your butt or other places. Cover that up ya nasty. And please please PLEASE do not wear open toed shoes when going to the gym. That is literally a death wish. And yes, chaos count. If you're serious about going to the gym, invest in a pair of really good tennis shoes. It will be worth it. You are around so much equipment and weights. There are so many scenarios I am picturing in my head right now of something going wrong while wearing open toed shoes and I am cringing. Dropping a weight on your foot will hurt no matter what shoe you are wearing but it will hurt a lot more with an open toed. Also, another important clothing item I want to address is sports bras! Do not be that girl who comes in with an actual, wire, padded bra. That is not comfortable by any means. When shopping for a sports bra, you need to make sure you find one that fits and supports. You don't want one that only cover half you boobs. I've come to find that target has some good ones. You could also try Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, or Academy.
That is all I have for today's Fitness Friday entry! I hope you enjoyed! Come back and visit tomorrow for my all time favorite, Disney World Saturday!! I'm really excited you guys. Have a lovely day! (:
